Reggie Yates says you can’t compare The Voice to X Factor

Reggie Yates has slammed critics of The Voice UK, insisting the show will be back again next year, “bigger and better”.
The TV and Radio 1 host has told The Sun that it’s unfair for people to compare the programme to The X Factor, which has been going for nine years. He also says critics should remember that whilst The Voice UK lost viewers after the audition stages, the show attracted a decent 8.1million for the final.

He said “If you look at the first episode to the final, you can see the production, the lighting got better. We got better, everything got better week on week because we were learning.

“To compare us to The X Factor which has been on for nine years just feels unfair. We’d just started and if you rule out all the comparisons and look at what we did then I think you’d see we did a bloody good job first time around.”

Reggie, who says he has no idea of he, Holly or any of this year’s judges will return next year yet, also takes a pop at The X Factor saying of The Voice “It’s not about bitching and rowing, it’s about making sure people get better every week. And that’s what everyone needs to get their head around”.

“It’s not that kind of show, there are no backstage antics, there are no dressing rooms with huge hot tubs in them.”
